500g chicken pieces
110g red onions
180g tomatoes, chopped
1/4 tsp garam masala
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 1/2 tbsp coriander powder
1/4 tsp chilli powder
1 curry leaf
salt to taste
sugar to taste (optional)
Ginger- garlic paste
9gm garlic
25gm ginger
Dry roast in a pan
6gm dried chillies
15gm cashew nuts
In a mixer, ground the dry roasted ingredients with chopped tomatoes. Keep aside.
In a wok, heat some oil or ghee, saute chopped onions until aromatic, mix in ginger-garlic paste and saute further until aromatic. Then add in turmeric powder, coriander powder and chilli powder. Stir well until the powders are well cooked. Then add in the chicken and cook until chicken turns brown. Mix in salt and stir in the cashew nut paste. Mix well and cook for a few minutes. Then, add in about 1 cup of water and leave to simmer. Cook until the dish is slightly dry. Finally, add in the garam masala and curry leaf. Mix well and dish out.
Note: If preferred you can add in a cinnamon stick and 3 cloves to this dish before saute-ing the onions for more flavour.
