Wavy Love Cake

Wavy Love Cake or locally known as Kek Alunan Kasih is another cake that is fast becoming a hit in many blogs. This recipe , the sugar used is less, you can add more if you want it sweeter. The cake is best eaten the next day.

This is my first recipe for #Diwali marathon

250gm butter
250gm sugar
5 medium eggs
300gm cake flour plus 1 tsp baking powder
125ml fresh milk
1 tsp vanilla essence
1 tsp rose essence
pink colouring
3 tbsp cocoa powder to create the wavy lines in the cake

Cream butter and sugar until fluffy and pale.
Add in eggs one by one and beat well.
Then add in the sieved  flour bit by bit and beat until well incorporated.
In between add in evaporated milk.
Divide the batter into two. Mix one part with rose essence and add a bit of pink colouring
while leave another plain and add vanilla essence.
Grease a pan or use a baking paper. Spread evenly less than half of the plain batter into the pan.
Then sieve cocoa powder on top of the plain batter evenly.
Then gently dollop the other colour on top of the cocoa powder. Be careful, as at this stage you cant spread evenly as the cocoa powder also will move. Repeat the shifting of the cocoa powder. Repeat the same with the other two parts. Preheat oven at 180C and bake for 45mins or until you insert a toothpick and it comes out clean.
