100-150gm spinach, washed, cut
200gms prawns -cleaned
2 medium onions-chopped
1 large tomato,chopped
10 nips garlic,chopped
1 in ginger,chopped
3-4 green chillies
2 sprigs curry leaves
1 in cinnamon stick
1/2 tsp fennel seeds
1 bayleaf
3 cardamom
3 cloves
3 tbsp coriander powder
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 tbsp chilli powder (can add more)
1 tbsp tamarind juice
1 tsp freshly grounded peppercorns
Heat oil, saute fennel,curry leaves,cinnamon stick,cloves,cardamom,bay leaf and onions. Saute until onions turn brownish.then add in chopped green chillies ,garlic and ginger. Saute a bit,then add in chopped tomatoes.Mix finely. Then add in spinach and stir.Spread the ingredients in teh wok.Add in all the powders except peppercorns.Stir and mix all the ingredients.Add prawns and salt to taste. Combine the prawns with the spices. Sprinkle some water if the dish is too dry. Add in tamarind juice. Stir well.Finally add in freshly grounded peppercorns before closing fire.The dish goes very well as a side dish with white rice.
