There are hundreds of lasagna variants, from artichoke spinach lasagna to spicy chipotle lasagna to vegetarian and seafood versions. The dish lends itself to creative use of ingredients by home cooks as well as chefs.The standard appertizing dish comes with layers of sauce and fillings such as chicken or meat and cheese .If you cant get pasta sauce you can prepare a simple sauce with some crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce and tomato puree/paste.Of course you have to add some standard herbs like basil and italian parsley.
Its an appertizing dish with layers of spicy sauce and fillings such as chicken and cheese .The spicy sauce recipe is something that I created (since I do like a bit of spicyness in my food).Top with chopped onions and chives really add flavour to the dish.Try it out and let me know how is it !
5 pieces San Remo Instant Lasagna sheets
4 tbsp of chopped chives
1 onion-chopped finely
125gm mozzarella cheese or cheddar cheese
For The sauce:
½ a bottle Leggo brand Pasta Sauce(spicy tomato and herb)
½ cup minced chicken
1 onion(sliced thinly)
2 tsp mutton/chicken curry powder(mix with 2tbsp water)
1 bay leaf
Salt and sugar to taste
Heat 2 tbsp olive oil,sauté sliced onion until soften,mix in mutton curry powder paste and stir fry further until fragrant.Add in chicken ,bay leaf and cook further .Add ¼ cup water and leave to simmer. Add in the pasta sauce and stir until gravy is well incorporated.Add in seasoning salt and sugar to taste.Simmer until gravy thickens.Close fire.Discard bay leaf and leave to cool
11/2 tbsp butter
1 tbsp plain flour
1 cup milk
1 tbsp cheddar cheese
A dash of pepper
Salt to taste
Melt butter in a saucepan.Stir in flour and cook for a minute over gentle heat.Remove from heat and stir in milk and beat until smooth.Return to heat and stir further ,add pepper and salt.Finally add in cheese and stir until cheese melts.Close fire.
Grease the pan and place an aluminum foil .Press neatly at all edges .Place a cupful of chicken sauce ,then place the lasagna sheet finishing with cheese and chopped chives.Do the same until you reach the 5th layer .The 5th layer being the last ,spread cheese sauce thinly,topping with cheese,chopped onions and chives.At least allow 5 layers .Bake at 180C for about 35 to 45 mins.Leave to cool for 10mins before serving.
Note: The cheese sauce is normally spread at each layering , but I only put at the top layer only.You can spread at each layering if you like.
