Hoen Kwee Pudding with coconut and gula melaka

On a rather hot day, this dessert would really be refreshing !!



125gm Hoen Kwe Flour/green pea flour
3 cups water mixed with
½ cup evaporated milk
2 tbsp sugar
A few drops of red/pink colouring
½ coconut mix with salt
Thick palm sugar syrup/gula melaka syrup

In a saucepan ,mix in flour,water plus evaporated mixture and sugar.Cook it in medium heat .Add in colouring .Fill in fancy jelly moulds and chill in the refrigerator until set.Serve with gula melaka syrup and grated coconut.

To make syrup, in a saucepan, add in gula melaka and 2 cups water.Leave to cook until gula melaka dissolve and becomes slightly thicker.Strain through siever and leave to cool. The syrup will thicken further once cooled.

    Gula melaka comes in blocks and do vary in weight.
    You can use abt 200-250gms of gula melaka.

    Grated white part of half a coconut.Mix the grated coconut with a pinch of salt.
