This is a fusion recipe. I use wanton pastry with filling which uses chicken curry powder.You can use the same filling for making samosas.
Ingredients
15 pieces of wanton pastry
Filling:
1 large potato(cut into small tiny cubes)
A few pieces of boneless chicken(chopped)
½ nip garlic(chopped)
1 bombay onion(chopped)
10 cumin seeds
2 cloves
2 cardamon
11/2 tbsp chicken curry powder
1 tbsp cream(optional)
Salt and sugar to taste
Corn flour batter(mix 1tbsp cornflour with 1 tbsp water)To stick the wanton together
Method
For the filling: Saute chopped garlic with onions.Add in cumin seeds.Leave the onion to soften ,then add in curry powder and sauté further.Add chicken and potatoes and coat the mixture with the chicken.Add 1 cup of water and let it simmer.Add salt and sugar to taste.Once the potatoes are cooked and the gravy thickens, mix in cream. Close the flame.Leave the filling to cool .
Peel off one by one the wanton to the required amount.In a bowl mix corn flour with water.Keep aside.
Take one wanton pastry and add the filling in the center.Then coat at all the 4 edges with cornflour mix .Take the edges of 2 side and stick together. Stick up to the end so that the filling don’t come out.Then take another 2 edges and stick together. Make sure all 4 edges are firm together.Use your fingers to press together and give a twist.Do the same way to all the other wantons.
Deep fry the wantons and serve hot with rice or can be a good tea time snack.
Another filling to try:
1 cup turnip (sengkuang cina)(cut thinly with length abt 2cm)
½ cup grated carrot
1 nip garlic (chopped)
A few pieces of boneless chicken(chopped)
1 onion (chopped)
A few drops of sesame oil
A pinch of pepper powder
A few drops of soy sauce
Salt and sugar to taste
Saute garlic and onion , once soften, add in carrot ,water chestnut and chicken.Add some water and let it simmer.Add pepper, sesame oil ,soy sauce ,salt and sugar.Let the filling be dried.
