Rendang Kunyit(Chicken)

This dish is not spicy but with a very rich taste of turmeric and its yellow in colour. There are many different ways of preparing rendang in Malaysia. Each state in Malaysia has a different taste in their rendang. Mainly these rendangs are prepared by mixing the coconut milk, chicken and pounded spices together and left to simmer down gently until thick. Kerisik is added finally into the rendang dish to give a brown colouring and a rich taste.

The first time I eat this rendang was in a restaurant which sells Nasi Lemak Berlauk.(Nasi Lemak with Gravy). As early as 11am people will start to queue up waiting to buy the nasi lemak with me no optional!
Beside the rice, there are side dishes like prawn sambal, squid sambal, fish fried , a few vegetables stir fry , along with the normal peanuts, cucumber and boil egg.The special dish would be the chicken rendang kunyit. The difference in this rendang is the chicken is semi fried before cooking into a rendang dish and you can taste the rich flavour of the fresh turmeric in this dish, its my kids favourite when I buy nasi lemak from this place.
